hey, it's ok (tuesday) .4

 hey, it's ok!

...to possibly love wrapping the presents as much as anything else at this time of year
...to think that those fruit in a pouch deals for babies and toddlers are pretty awesome...and to consider adding a few to your own pantry since you never eat fruit and this would be one way to change that
...to giggle a bit at the baby terrorizing the cat before actually stopping said baby from said terrorizing
(really all he was doing was standing at the chair she was sitting in and reaching out to pet her.)
...to realize that a good number of your "hey it's ok" points involve children when you don't even have kids yet
...to get a little giddy about "the sing off"
...to kind of wish you could hibernate for this season because it's COLD
...to have been slightly freaked out when the mother of a couple of your students placed an albino ferret in your arms when you were dropping off some music at their house, followed by the realization that the animal was actually quite adorable and very snuggly!

funny. it's been cold here all week and today? gorgeous. i don't mind this trend of cold miserable weeks followed by a rewarding gorgeous weekend!

i've already taught a lesson this morning and i babysit starting at 5 -- first for a small group (at minimum 12 kids, but the parents will be right.there) and then when small group leaves i'll stick around.  tis the season for holiday parties, and the hosts of the small group have one to go to!

You Can't Make This Suff Up: Volume 6

Ever wished for a little extra warmth in your hotel bed when traveling?
You know, like a giant hot water bottle?

Go to London and it's just a quick dial down to the front desk. A human bed warmer, dressed head-to-toe in a fleece sleeper suit

(pardon me just a moment. can I just have the fleece sleeper suit? kthanks)

will come up to your room, turn down the sheets, and lay in the bed for about 5 minutes before you actually get into the bed.

So in England, having a stranger in your bed might actually be a good thing?

There's scientific evidence to back it up, blah, blah...

And while I admit it would be tempting to get in a nice toasty bed

And I suppose it's the same principal as sitting in a nicely warmed chair that someone has just vacated

I just can't get past some random person seeing me *right before I go to bed*

That's not exactly my glory time, ya know?

Full article, so that you know I truly didn't make this one up. And another.

Thursday's Ten: Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful...

but the fire heater is so delightful
and since we've no place lots of places to go....
Let it snow, Let it Snow, LET IT SNOW!!

I'm hoping for some white stuff here in mid-TN, but I'm not holding my breath. We're not exactly known for getting it when it's predicted!

However, schools have closed. I'm writing this on Wednesday evening so that I can schedule it to pop up first thing on Thursday and schools.are.closed. Not a trace of snow in the air.

Meanwhile, I'm cold.
Bone-chilled, aching, miserable COLD.

Honestly, if it snows I'll instantly warm up. There's something magical about it.

But just in case it doesn't (because that's pretty likely around here)

here's some other ways to warm up!

1. Scarves, scarves, scarves, scarves, scarves
2. Cuddling with your honey :)
3. a fun hat
4. building a small fire out of bamboo skewers normally used for kabobs...
5. bundling up with enough layers that you'll walk like a penguin
6. letting your leg hair grow so that there's another layer between you and the cold air
(I would NEVER. It's just a suggestion!)
7. using a hair drying for warming yourself up. Honestly, Driving Ms N did that.
8. having a bulldog breathe on you (Moxie's staying the weekend, just in case you were wondering)
9. running
(but who wants to do that in the COLD?!)
10. heating pads. they're not just for pain anymore.

What about you? What do you do when the weather outside isn't to your liking?

MckLinky is up, grab the button and post your top ten!
(It doesn't have to be about this subject)

Oh, and next week we'll do a "most wanted" list. 10 material things you are saving up for or just wanting...

(this just in: the bread aisle at Kroger today via twitpics. if the milk and eggs look like this we'll have plenty of french toast to go around the city!)

Sometimes it Just Takes a Fuzzy Sweater

Let me just put something out there.

I hate winter.
Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.

There are a few things about winter that make it bearable.

Snow

(which somehow negates the cold air around it. I turn into a big kid in snow)

Scarves

Gloves

Boots

Hats
and the occasional

Warm Fuzzy Sweater

The perfect WFS will have the following attributes:

touchability - you know, the kind that makes people come up to rub your arm just because your sweater looks so soft and comfy? I'm a big texture girl. Give me something that I can feel great in and I'm a happy girl.

warmth - what good is a thin sweater? None, I tell you.

versatility - can be worn with work pants or jeans and boots...even the occasional skirt!

cheapness - finding a good bargain is part of the thrill

and lately,

ruffles - just to indulge my feminine side!

(kind of like this one)
