it's a great day to celebrate granny

this is one of those glorious weekends 

where not much is 'scheduled'

and things are pretty laid back

yesterday morning anthony worked while i had lunch with a friend and ran errands

we had vodka pasta for dinner (yay indulgences)

today is church (at 4.30 pm. being part of a church plant is awesome that way)

and tonight we celebrate anthony's granny's birthday

(i believe there is brisket involved)

i have a gift to wrap

and worship rehearsal to get to

it's a great day to get more fingernail polish

today's agenda: cook, clean, go to target and buy a new shade of nail polish (because why not), play games/watch movies with anthony and his sisters (they're hanging out today and tomorrow with us), babysit for a family i used to nanny for (i haven't seen the kids for awhile so i'm really looking forward to that!) and just...chill.  i'm good with that plan.

it's a great day to cook for the guys

anthony had two friends spend the night last night after playing games well into the early am hours.  i'm making brunch for them in the midst of their gameplay, and basically being a complete slug on the couch downstairs, catching up on my dvr...


i babysat last night and have another job tonight (yaaaay extra monies!) and tomorrow is church, etc.  anything more exciting going on in your world?  


honestly, i'm quite enjoying the weekend with little going on since the next two will be spent in a more normal fashion -- superbowl gathering next weekend and entertaining out of town guests the next.

it's a great day to basically be a slug

we had friends over until late last night and slept in this morning
which was a nice change of pace

in 2 hours i'll be leaving to spend the night at the house of the family i nanny for.  they're going to a hockey game, but he's surprising her with a fancy dinner before and a hotel downtown after.  i get to hang out with the kids while they have their getaway. :-)

tomorrow will be another lazy day once i get home...which i'm very much looking forward to.  hope you're able to relax and have a wonderful weekend wherever you find yourself as well :-)

today we are in indiana
staying with my parents
and celebrating Christmas with them


in a few minutes we'll unwrap gifts
and hang around chatting for awhile


this evening we're headed to evansville
to have dinner and exchange gifts with our friends brian and angie

it's a great day to go to birmingham

so.

anthony is a nashville native.  but he went to school in texas.
and while he was there, he developed a love for whataburger.

especially the chocolate malts.

a couple of years ago we drove down to texas for a friends wedding and i had MY first whataburger

and yes, it was very good :-)

fast forward: last year a couple of girlfriends and i went to the beach.  destin, fl.
our hotel? right next to a...whataburger.  which until then, i thought only existed in texas.

this year when natasha and i planned out our trip
i specifically planned in a whataburger run
and asked anthony if he wanted me to bring him back anything
his request?
"if you can find dry ice, could you bring me a malt?"

on the way down there, we noticed something.
from birmingham to florida, there were whataburgers in nearly every city along the way.

whataburger is only 3 hours away from nashville.

anthony had NO idea.
when i brought him his malt, i let him think it was from florida.
he remarked on how well it had traveled
(3 hours in regular ice...but he didn't know that!)

meanwhile, my wheels were turning.

i planned this in freaking AUGUST, people :-)

but long story short, he now knows.
(it took 30 minutes of guessing on his part before he said
"wait...there's a WHATABURGER in BIRMINGHAM?!")

we're heading out this morning and hitting up whataburger for lunch.
followed by a visit to birmingham's zoo
(because we love zoos, and why not?)
and dinner at...whataburger again.

hey, we may as well make the most of the trip down there, right? :-)

it's a great day to hike (with a stroller) for a great cause!

today i join friends and hike up a trail
double stroller in front of me

it'll be a fun event for the kids i'm staying with this weekend
there are games, inflatables, and food available after the hike
so i'm sure they'll be nicely worn out just in time to go down for a nap :-)

i think we'll ALL take a nap this afternoon

and then my husband will join us for dinner

a movie night will ensue (it's something they do with their parents on friday or saturday night, so the familiarity will be nice for them)

and then we'll go to bed early, since the boys (2 and 4) will really have no concept of an "extra" hour of sleep.  hopefully putting them to bed a bit late both last night and tonight will result in a somewhat later awakening...

wishful thinking, right?

it's a great day to update my work wardrobe (cheaply)

on this lazy saturday i slept later

and lounged for hours catching up on my dvr

while my husband watched the end game of the world series upstairs

(he's actually in inning 3 at the moment.

whatever you do...

do NOT tell him what happens!)

(i already know)

in about an hour

natasha and mandy are coming for lunch

and then we will head super target

because i have very little clothing that i am currently loving for work

and there's 50% and 75% off racks at target

i can build something from that :-)

after that, natasha and i are going to the 1.50 theater

(conveniently about 2 miles from my house)

and we'll watch crazy stupid love

and then we'll come back to the house

where we will cook dinner for the guys my husband will be playing poker with

just a normal saturday, really

but at the end of the day

when everyone else leaves

anthony doesn't have to

wedding stuff is eating my life these days
but it's ALL good :-)

in the next couple of weeks i'll show you some of the stuff we've come up with for the ceremony, reception, and gifts for the wedding party.

it's a great day to finish our registry

we have a registry set up at bed bath and beyond, and another at williams sonoma.  today we'll wrap up by creating one at target.  now that we know where we'll be living (if everything pans out -- we were accepted on wednesday!) it'll be easier to register for stuff for our new home in mind.

anyway...today we do that, tonight i'll cook us vodka pasta, the next day i'll head off to camp with our youth group and i'll be off the grid for pretty much a week...and when i come back i'll be on a *crazy* cleansing diet.  so most likely there will be no recipes of the week for about a month since i seriously doubt y'all will be remotely interested in what i'll be able to eat!

i'm going to try to have a few posts scheduled for while i'm away, but you never know.  oh, and please forgive me if i'm slow getting to your blogs...i keep my google reader caught up normally, but being off the internet for a week or so will lend itself to triple digits and that's a bit intimidating!

when it was announced they were coming
we joined the u2 website to buy our tickets before they went on sale to the general public
a good move, since it sold out extremely quickly!

so...i'm doing boring things like laundry and cleaning
but in a couple of hours
i'll be headed to his parents house
to hang out, have ribs cooked by his dad (mmm!)
and then walk over to the stadium
(yep, walking distance from their place.  yay!)

i talked to a friend this morning who said 'you going tonight?'
and it's pretty common to say when talking about weekend plans
that you're going to 'the concert'
and everyone knows what you're referring to
nashville is kind of buzzing

friends of ours get married today, so a portion of the day will be celebrating and congratulating them.  and then...hopefully the temperature will stay reasonable and i'll be able to get in at least an evening walk or something :-)  between the heat and the cicadas, outdoor exercise is a creative prospect!

it's a great day to babysit, well, all day!

so i've picked up a regular (every 3rd week) job to squirrel away some wedding cash
meaning that i spend every third saturday and sunday caring for 2 adorable children under the age of 2.

i'm gonna be busy!
and i'm totally taking a change of clothes. because nannying for 2 under 2 sometimes requires a hazmat suit.

right after i work 11 hours today, we're getting together with a's parents to give his mom our gift since i won't be around for actual mother's day.

hope your weekend is just as exciting as mine promises to be!

it's a great day to watch hockey

thank goodness it's my "weekend" wordle and not a "saturday" one! we just watched a nail-biting game in which the predators tied up the series with the canucks. to say we were nervous wrecks the entire double-overtime game is an understatement! but we're on our way back home with a tied series, so it's gooooood!

it's a great day to take emi to the vet

poor emi has to go to the doctor today...she gave us quite a scare the other night and i just want to make sure she's ok!

after she gets a clean bill of health (ahem!) anthony and i are grabbing chinese for lunch and hanging out for a couple of hours.  he's having a guys night and i'm babysitting, so it'll be nice to steal a few moments together!

tonight is my favorite.  i hate, hate, hate "falling back" and even though springing forward means we "lose" an hour of precious sleep...i also don't have to drive home at 4:30 pm in the freakin' dark!  so YAY for getting back to the right time!

other than that, not a whole lot going on in my corner of the world...

that pretty much sums up today.  a piano lesson this morning, a tea party with some girlfriends this afternoon and an evening of babysitting first for all the children of a small group and then for the hosts kids while they attend a work party!
